Straight out of Japan, No Milk has been busy for the past 15 years developing a kind of hybrid house sound along the lines of Rondenion, Kez YM, or Motor City Ensemble. Here he turns up on the young Denver-based, American manufactured Theplayground imprint.

The record opens with a vibe somewhere around LCD Soundsystem’s loose dance rock, hammering cowbell and jerky bassline aggressively addressing the dancefloor scene. Shake Shake Ahh is a bit more electroid but fits within the house vibe.

On the flip side, Dubbyman contributes two reinterpretations that build on his catalog of deep explorations. They’re both late-night house recordings, layering blurry vocals, dubby delay, and warm basslines onto the re-polished percussive elements of the originals.
